Living In The Marketing Verse

July 5, 2022

We have been hearing a lot about the metaverse and the mass machine that is running in relation to it. But who knows where it will lead us. But as we sit in anticipation about the metaverse, the one thing we know about web 2 is that we are living in the Marketing Verse. It is so crazy when you sit back and listen to people and companies market themselves. And let's be clear, we are talking about the content marketing we read in blogs, hear on podcasts, and see and read on social media.

Do you ever think and wonder how these folks act when the cameras, microphones, and keyboards are turned off. Does it seem like a fantasy world? And for the most part, when all the hype is over, and the cameras, microphones, and typing have all gone away, how do you think most of these folks are in real life? Are they anything like their marketing persona? Or could they be pretentious jerks? Now there are probably some folks that are really authentic. And their personality in their personal lives is similar to their marketing persona’s. But we like to have a glass half-full mindset here, but for some crazy reason, on a humorous level, we think the glass is half empty on this one. But you what? It's all okay, because we are living in the marketing verse. And let’s face it, we have to laugh at ourselves a bit, because here at the Let's Pop Art podcast, when the microphone turns off, we are creating paint by numbers digital art.

We feel very fortunate because we have been creating digital art for some time now. And we use our digital art and graphic design knowledge for content creation, but we keep it pretty real. But again, to have a laugh at ourselves, we have been known on a few occasions to lob a micro blogging post out there that says, “hope you are having a great weekend” more times than we might like to admit. But again, it is all okay, because we are living in the marketing verse. But all kidding aside, sometimes the content is about deep topics. Coming from people who are somewhat flexing their smart muscles discussing almost every topic or product imaginable. And when it comes to tech, a lot of acronyms get thrown around. But have you ever thought to yourself that some content being created is intellectually non-inclusive? Meaning, that the content is intellectually excluding some people. And is being created to cater to a certain audience. Now on an empathetic level, do you think that our society is being pressured from every angle to flex those smart muscles? And that pressure is affecting how people are creating content.

One of the reasons we decided to discuss this was not to criticize people. But to bring this to light. What we have observed most of the time is that people who are doing this are unconscious of the fact that they are doing it. And for the most part they are just trying to get their intellectual point across. One of the simple ways to combat this is for writers to follow the Writing Style Guides. For those of you who want to know what the Writing Style Guides are, just do a search and take from there if you feel inclined.

Writing is so important when it comes to content creation. And writing is an artform. It is pretty fascinating and positive that a piece of written content could go from being non-inclusive to inclusive with some very simple tweaks.

As for artists and content creators, do we find ourselves with our feet firmly planted in the marketing verse? Can an artist be an artist and get by without being a marketer? And can a content creator be a content creator and not be an artist? The internet is an amazing place, but for artists and content creators it comes with its own set of challenges. We believe that writing, graphic design, and video creation are powerful tools when it comes to content creation. And as we find ourselves paddling in the same boat as so many of you, writing and graphic design is our go to tools for life in the marketing verse. We so enjoy creating our social media posts and this podcast. And we wish the best to all when it comes to content creation. We so hope you like this blog post created from our episode eight season one of the Let’s Pop Art podcast.
